Spiritual Growth
Seeking Higher
We provide specific house placements, especially for candidates who are seeking daily support with their spiritual growth. This element of the service may not be for everyone, and that is ok. However, if you are curious as to what this looks like, please read on.
We are all presented with daily challenges, but when your problem becomes your ‘god’ you have to seek higher! It is during these most trying times when we tend to become open and willing to accept avenues which have been tried, tested and are successful.
Currently (2020) within the UK prisons, approximately 48% of their Service Users are Christians. Many of them have found praying and focusing on God has helped them to get through their everyday challenges. Unfortunately, sometimes that vital connection with God becomes lost when they have to manage their daily life after release and this is how we can help.
Some people believe science denounces God, but it is not the case, as both coexist. There are a number of ways to prove this and the 12 Steps Program also known as the 'AA', Alcoholics Anonymous is one of them.
Most of us have heard of the 12 Steps Program. What you may not know is it was started by a man, a doctor who was an alcoholic himself. As a doctor, he was thinking medically about how to overcome his addiction. This dilemma was going on for a long time. He had ideas and named his challenge the 'disease model', which was partially right. He had found approaching the problem with medical intervention on its own, could not cure the problem, so he teamed up with somebody else to help. Both men wanted to find out why they cannot just use medical intervention to cure the ‘disease model’ until they came across a group of Christians who were not trained in medicine, but they were working successfully with rehabilitating alcoholics.
The scientists looked at the percentage of people who were recovering from alcohol abuse under the guidance and care of the Christians and it was significant because it had the spiritual element. This was when the AA was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Robert Holbrook Smith, known to AA members as "Bill W." and "Dr. Bob". Addressing the mind and spirit is what 12-step therapy is all about.
By using Godly principles and Holy scriptures X-Ceed Transition builds a foundation and structure to help those men who want to deepen the connection they already have.
