Mentoring Support

Our Mentors

X-Ceed Transition's mentors are passionate about what we do. We have life experiences or specific skills beneficial to the transitioning mentee ex-offender.

The mentoring support for ex-offenders is for mentees in custody or the community. Our ultimate aim is to achieve successful outcomes to prevent people from being recalled back to prison.

Through the Initial Assessment and Agreed Action Plan, we identify the required support. We then partner with outside skilled agencies based on the ex-offenders needs and work alongside the mentee to achieve the desired goal.

Whether in custody or the community, ex-offenders can find the process of transition daunting and very overwhelming. Mentors can help to achieve many tasks such as; explaining information, organizing appointments, filling out application forms, or attending meetings; which is very beneficial to the progress.

Most ex-offenders have multiple agencies working with them and this can be frustrating or difficult at times. As mentors, we can help to bridge the gap between agencies by sharing important information where appropriate. This aspect of the role can help reduce tasks being duplicated, missed, or unmet.

Building networks is a virtual part of this mentorship, as it can help the mentee continue to achieve goals long after the mentoring relationship has come to an end. Networks may include family, professionals, training, and employment.

For mentees who have asked specifically to receive help with their Christian growth, as a faith-based organization we are happy to pray with or for them. This is not an expectation but on request only.

We place importance on the areas of the ex-offers life where it matters the most. Apart from finance, education and accommodation, there are some additional challenges that can be reduced just by being their mentor, such as;

  • Facing discrimination

  • Isolation

  • Inconsistency

  • Neglect

  • Poor services
